What I'm researching

I'm working through Jack Canfield's "Success Principles" and "Power of Focus" with Hansen, Hewitt. I have a wide range of books I am reading - I have a number of these posted on my Linkedin site as well as this site.

Time Management

This is an ongoing issue - How do we find the time to improve ourselves, our organizations, our environment? The main comment I hear is that there is not enough time to do what needs to be done. Yet there are those who carve out small niches in time and by doing so, wildly improve themselves and the rest of us. Alan Weiss (http://www.summitconsulting.com/) suggest trying to improve 1% daily. This accumalation of improvement, like interest reinvested, goes logarithmic. The above referenced authors provide insights using mission and vision statements at the core of our being.

Complexity Theory

Why can't we "control" the workplace? Why do we seem to always have to restart programs just when we think they are taking hold. I think part of the answer depends on how we incorporate an understanding of complexity into our efforts. I had the slap in the face that we don't have control and can only influence a complex system!

I am looking for new concepts from all sources that can be used to accelerate the implementation of initiatives that improve the environment, safety and health. Is there anything new under the sun? I hope to find out.

NCSafetyandLife is my website where I will post ideas and concepts for personnel self-improvment, health, life balance and other topics that I find of interest. I believe that one must constantly work towards personal self improvement each day.
I have adopted a mandra of "Team, Explore, Learn, Act" that will guide this website
NCSafetyandlife is my website where I will share what I find. I will be searching for thoughts, concepts, interesting discussion, ideas, etc. that I can translate from theory into practical daily applications. My objective is to find methods and ideas that can dramaticly improve life, not just the work environment. Each issue or problem may need a different approach so my net will be widely spread for links, guest bloggers, resources and discussions that I like.
